Meet Lino, a cheerful gondolier cat in a straw hat who plays the mandolin by the sea and loves playing it with your child!
Toddlers Mandolin turns your phone or tablet into a real-sounding mandolin made for small hands. Every touch makes music, so even the youngest players succeed from the very first tap.
PLAY
The mandolin's rosette becomes a wheel of smiling rainbow petals. Tap a petal to pluck it. Hold it and the pick trembles just like a real mandolin player's tremolo; wiggle your finger to make it faster. Tap the sound hole to strum a chord, or run your finger round the wheel for a whole scale. Every note is a real recorded string. Record a little tune and play it back. Try more sounds: music box, banjo, harp, a big deep mandolin, steel drums and bells.
REAL MANDOLIN
A real mandolin neck with four pairs of strings (G, D, A and E) and frets, every note in its own rainbow colour. Press a fret with one hand and pick with the other; keep the pick down for tremolo.
SONGS
20 songs, from Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Santa Lucia to the Carnival of Venice, Vivaldi's Spring and When the Saints Go Marching In.
• Magic mode: any petal plays the next note, so your child sounds like a star at once.
• Follow mode: the right petal glows, so little musicians learn the melody.
• Listen mode: Lino and the band play the whole song.
BAND
Start a groove (tarantella, bluegrass, barcarolle, bossa nova, sirtaki, waltz, pop or polka) and play along with a tambourine, double bass, accordion and guitar. The tarantella and the sirtaki get faster every time round, until the whole band tumbles over laughing! Add mandolin tricks with a single tap: a rake across the strings, a meowing slide, rolling waves, a little bird and more.
GAMES
Decorate a pizza in Pizza Song, where every topping plays the next note of a tune. Repeat Lino's melodies in Copy Me, and tell high from low with a seagull and a sea turtle in High or Low?.
LULLABIES
Lino rocks to sleep in a gondola on a moonlit canal while a softly trembling mandolin plays lullabies, with a sleep timer that slowly fades the music out.
